Filters

February 7, 2007

I have been working on filters from last week.It was a great learning experience working on those things..The filter property of any object takes only array as parameters. And each parameter in that array contains various objects of type BlurFilter,GlowFilter,ShadowFilter et al.Objects of these classes contains various properties like blurX,blurY,strength et al.So if you select any object and apply those filters and then again you want to retrieve those properties you have to scan each and every object along with their properties..I found out very good method of doing that. The class I m using is ObjectUtil.getClassInfo(my object name).properties. This static method gives me the entire properties of any object. So navigating through those properties is now much easier for me. I will post the entire sample code on this when i will complete it.

Vijay on PHP

February 3, 2007

You know I had posted few weeks back about my ideas beng heard by my Team Leader Vijay Khambalkar on http://rajeshbhadra.blogspot.com . This time again i had suggested regarding scrum.Yeah scrum the daily update pattern which i had learned in my previous company Oinam Software from Brajeshwar.I gave this very same idea to Vijay and in an half-an-hour he wrote a script in Php and surprised all of us .He wrote something in few minutes so that we can submit our daily updates. So from now on we dont have to open our company mailbox to send our updates. Thanks Vijay.

And yeah one more thing this guy really deserves to be a Team Leader.Oue PHP team was working on some framework for PHP so Vijay is very good with PHP.He spent few days working alone on that framework. When I had joined this company Vijay showed me some of his work in PHP. I was like wow man even I want to learn that.
The framework was basically a Add/Mod/Del/Update kinda model on any database. You just have to pass the name of the database to that model and it will generate required PHP scripts for you. Sounds really cool to me.But I am not a PHP guy but the appreciation which he got was excellent. We are proud to have TL like you..Cheers Vijay.

Flex Builder Crash due to multiple logins

February 3, 2007

Hey friends this is the first post on wordpress. I also blog on http://rajeshbhadra.blogspot.com.

I am working with Magnet Technologies Pvt Ltd on Flex/AS3/Flash 9 et al.Our company uses Remote Desktop feature provided by Windows,Linux. It helps to reduce the number of CPU’s for each employee. So multiple user can connect to a single machine sharing their CPU cycles. There are lotsa pros and cons of this. But thats the way we have to live accepting how they are. But I have a separate machine 🙂

Now this leech not only sucks our CPU cycles but also it crashes our beloved FlexBuilder.

When more than two user uses the same flex builder, the flex builder crashes and gives this error message.

Snapshot of Flex Builder Crash

“An error has occurred.See the log file.

C:\Documents and Settings \user name\My Documents\Flex Builder 2\.metadata\.log”

You can get rid of this message by deleting the “.snap” file located at

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\Flex Builder 2\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources

This will bring back Flex Builder into running condition but the glitch is that it will remove the running project from the project explorer. You have to import that project again..

Cheers.
