AIR(Apollo) and Flex 3(Moxie)

June 11, 2007

Today when I entered office, one of my colleague
Karan Palan gave me the news of release of Adobe Flex 3 and also he told that Apollo has been changed to Adobe Integrated

Runtime. Hurray Flex 3 finally released. I didnt like the name AIR. Apollo sounds good to me. If you are discussing with someone on which

technology are you working on you will say I am working on AIR 🙂 Wherein “working on apollo” sounds like you are working on “Apollo

11”. Anyways I started reading all the articles on Matt Chottin’s Blog. There is lotsa new things to look at. Some of the core features of the

Flex 3 are

1) Support for the new Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR)
2) Code refactoring
3) Memory and performance profilers
4) SWF file size reduction through persistent framework caching
5) Advanced datagrid( this one is my favourite)
6) Web service introspection( do not know much about this)

Flex Builder Crash due to multiple logins

February 3, 2007

Hey friends this is the first post on wordpress. I also blog on

I am working with Magnet Technologies Pvt Ltd on Flex/AS3/Flash 9 et al.Our company uses Remote Desktop feature provided by Windows,Linux. It helps to reduce the number of CPU’s for each employee. So multiple user can connect to a single machine sharing their CPU cycles. There are lotsa pros and cons of this. But thats the way we have to live accepting how they are. But I have a separate machine 🙂

Now this leech not only sucks our CPU cycles but also it crashes our beloved FlexBuilder.

When more than two user uses the same flex builder, the flex builder crashes and gives this error message.

Snapshot of Flex Builder Crash

“An error has occurred.See the log file.

C:\Documents and Settings \user name\My Documents\Flex Builder 2\.metadata\.log”

You can get rid of this message by deleting the “.snap” file located at

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\Flex Builder 2\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources

This will bring back Flex Builder into running condition but the glitch is that it will remove the running project from the project explorer. You have to import that project again..
